    I’ve had nail fungus on my thumbnails for 20 years. I only have tried the topical things that don’t require a prescription, specifically because of the liver failure side affects.
    Yea, the funky looking nails bother me, but not enough to risk killing my liver.
    I keep my thumnails trimmed, and sometimes take a bit of light sandpaper to them to keep the funkyness at bay. Most people have never noticed even when shaking hands, or they think it was caused by an accident.
    No one has ever been grossed out by them as they are really just a bit wrinkly.
    Tea Tree oil did nothing for mine, nor was there anything that worked for me in Prescription for Nutritional Healing (though I do recommend the book overall).

    Take the meds, I tell you. The anti-fungal meds will only cause liver disease if you take it for too long, like other meds. I suppose your dermatologist did not tell you to take the meds for a year, right? Stuff like that are usually taken for just a week or so.. you’re not gonna die of liver failure. But if you insist on not treating your fungal infection, then you’re most likely going to die of something else… LONELINESS because no one would ever date you. So go, start treating those nails already.

    I tried lamisil and it didn’t work. I am now trying a topical toenail liquid that you paint on. So far, they look better. Also, I heard tea tree oil works too.

    A easy home remedy–soak your toes in Listerine—once or twice a day for 1 hour or as long as you can. Lamisil can be dangerous, you can also ask a pedicurist if they have something for it.

    First ask the Doc if there is an alternative med. Second, and i’m not a chick, but HELL YES girls will dump you for this. At least any self respecting girl with any level of personal hygene. Take care of your feet, you only have two and you cant get new ones.

    Ask if you can take an alternative medication and stop using fake nail and going to those nail places. Because those pedcures and stuff my aunt lost 6 nail so now she has 6 nailess fingers

    Try tree tea oil or colloidal silver.They have no side effects,and are all natural.They help fight fungus.Also can be used to treat wounds.Check out the book Perscription For Nutritional Healing.

    There is a polish type treatment for nail fungus called Penlac ask your doctor about it. It is a clear polish that goes on once a day. No side effects, but the downside is you will be using if for about a year. It takes this long for toenails to completely grow out again. To my understanding though the Lamisil takes just as long. Yes, you can get liver failure with Lamisil med and should have frequent lab work to check you liver enzymes, so I would request the Penlac. I don’t think liver failure is worth having clear nails, but you won’t have to worry with the polish. It works very well and will eradicate the fungus unlike over the counter treatments.     Jon, oh hell no—on the dumping part. The vast majority of us have nail fungus and don’t even realize it. I would deep six the lamisil idea, the side effects are ridiculous and honestly the success rate is pisspoor as well. Make regular visits to a podiatrist for foot care including keeping your nails short and take care of all your nails as hygenically as possible. The fungus can and does spread as you may know. In time your problem will get much better, disappear and may then reappear. Hopefully they will develop a real cure for this, but these are incidious and resistant infections. No it doesn’t look great but nobody is perfect and would you want to be with a girl shallow enough to dump you for that ???? Go forward, be happy.
